New generation radar cars
Since 2012, Fareco has been supplying new generation on-board mobile speed control radars to the French State.
More than 300 vehicles have been deployed on French territory allowing speed to be controlled when moving away (same direction) and when approaching (opposite direction of traffic).
In 2016, the State entrusted FARECO with the modernization of "radar cars" with a view to their outsourcing "Operation carried out by private service providers whose mission is only to drive the vehicle" with the main objective of freeing the forces of order and increase the utilization rate of these systems.
In order to achieve this objective, FARECO made the following technical developments in 2016:
- Real-time identification of panels
- Complete system automation
- Mastery of location
- Collection and recording of data
This new generation of on-board radar is connected, which makes it possible to report in real time the elements encountered during the vehicle's journey (traffic speed to measure the impact of the device and therefore the effectiveness of the solution, the signaling elements to control their relevance and their condition…). The whole is dedicated to supplying a public database (“Open Data”).
Two versions of on-board automated controls:
- Manual version: requires 2 members of law enforcement, the driver and the sworn passenger who controls the device
- Automated version: no more need for swearing
